Mick Schumacher knows well what it means to not have a certain future, to work under pressure. He knows that opportunities can arise at any moment and that for this reason we need to move in the right direction, bond with certain people. Mick's career in F1 was a dream, at times a nightmare that lasted too little. The first points in F1 achieved last year did not erase the many mistakes that led to the Haas to prefer pilots with more experience. After leaving Haas and the Ferrari ecosystem, he turned to a team very dear to his family, the Mercedes and to Toto Wolff who praised his work as third driver, especially for his contribution to the simulator. But Mick's hope is that Toto can also act as guarantor if a team shows interest in the German. An opportunity that has been discussed for several weeks is that of seeing Schumacher in place of Logan Sargeant, a rookie with the Williams team. The German driver expressed himself on this and can't wait to get back on track.
Schumacher ready to replace Sargeant
As we said, Mick knows certain dynamics well. He knows that mistakes are paid dearly in Formula 1 and that there are few teams that have money and time to invest in the growth of a driver. Logan Sargeant's season hasn't been particularly exciting. He and Nyck De Vries, another rookie for the 2023 season, are the only two riders who have not yet scored a point. They are still young and should be given time but we know that in Formula 1 there is less and less time to learn. It's a world in which you need to establish yourself quickly. Also made up of revenge, as demonstrated by the other Williams driver, Alexander Albon - ex Red Bull - fresh from his best weekend, in Canada since he joined the Grove team.

It took Schumacher a long time to settle in, and Haas was no longer willing to give him any more opportunities. That same mechanism could lead Williams to choose another second driver to join Alexander Albon. The link between Mick and Mercedes - and between Mercedes and Williams - could work in the German's favor, even if Toto Wolff has declared that he is not in negotiations also because he would not want to deprive himself of a third driver like Mick right in the middle of Mercedes' rebirth . However, Schumacher makes it known that he is ready for a possible replacement, if not already from 2023, from 2024, considering that Sargeant has an annual contract (until 2023).
"I am always ready. Believe me, I'm working hard and hope to get back in the car soon“, Mick tells the Germans on RTL. “Am I willing to move to Williams? Yes, I would. It is unlikely that something like this will happen now, after all there are contracts that are usually respected. But fundamentally, I believe that any team is a good option".
