Season 2023 of Formula 1 it has arrived to the archives and, as it should be, the teams are already starting to think and plan for next year. In view of the 2024, however, there is still a team that has not defined the future of its driver, namely the Williams continuing to ponder Logan Sargeant's position.
Vowles comes out in the open about Sargeant's future: “He will always remain in the Williams Academy. We'll see"
The American, as well as a rookie for the 2023 season, was clearly defeated in the comparison with his teammate Albon (which was one of the real surprises of the championship). Grove's team, in fact, thanks to the Thai's amazing performances, concluded the 2023 season at seventh place in the constructors' standings, abandoning the typical last square, which this year fell to Haas. Despite this, discussions continue at Williams about the future of Sargeant. The 22-year-old driver finished the year with one point, won in the US GP following the combined disqualification for both Leclerc and Hamilton.

A result that does not entirely convince the team principal Vowles who, speaking on the future of Sargeant, did not express enormous certainty about its possible renewal: "Whatever happens, Sargeant has been part of our Academy for many years and will always remain so for a long time. He is a fast rider but we shouldn't just think about that, but look for example at how much he has improved in the last five races".
“We are proud of its growth”
Although the numbers are not on his side, there is still something he can do hope the American, or its growth phase in recent weeks, as explained by the team principal himself: “We are proud – Vowles said – of the steps forward he has made during this season, which has now just ended. You see signs that what he is doing it's what he needs to earn his place, but to date we are not in a position to be able to confirm this yet".
