Most teams will carry many updates for the next race weekend a Silverstone, and among them is the Williams. The English team, who are competing on home soil this week, want to catch up again the points area. A goal that missing for four races. Indeed the last two points have come to Miami Albon. But most of all the Top 10 in the home Grand Prix is not reached by the stable since 2017 with Felipe Massa in his last year before retiring from the top category.
Developments to improve aerodynamic efficiency
Williams is at the moment the bottom team in the constructors' championship, and is trying to improve race by race. There is a need to test, and for this very tests will be brought interim updates which will be tested only on the FW44's Alexander Albon. Team Performance Manager Dave Robson explained which pieces might change on the Williams of the Thai i.e the bodywork and the bottom, key parts to increase the aerodynamic load of the car, weakness of the FW44.
But the data which most impresses is the time established in a simulation from the car with the new pieces: the well-known journalist explains it better Lawrence Barretto who estimates that the improvement in qualification, always dependent from circuit to circuit, it's about a second! Should the simulations turn out to be real, we could see a distortion of the forces at play.
What do the Williams drivers think?
Albon e Latifs I'm obviously very concentrated about this race weekend and they can't wait to get on the track to do what they do best, push the car to the limit. If for the Canadian, Montréal seemed to be the last race with the English team, for the Thai the one in England will be essential to confirm the skills he has shown us up to now. Below are the words of the pilots.
Albon: “Silverstone is the team's home race and half of it for me too. This is a special circuit, made even more beautiful by the fans who will show us their support. For me it's where it all started, with the karting license I got at the age of eight. The layout is among the most fun for a driver and it will be even more so with these cars.".
Latifs: “I am very happy to go to Silverstone, it will be a special weekend, as it is the home race for the team. The track is one of my favorites on the calendar, I can't wait to get on track”.
