The long-awaited updates have arrived at Aston Martin and although controversy has already erupted over the similarities with the Red Bull project, there are those who are not entirely convinced that these innovations will bring big changes, that is Sebastian Vettel.
Having arrived on the Catalan circuit, the biggest innovations brought by the teams were revealed. Initially there was talk of a version more similar to Ferrari but the “new” AMR22 presented at Barcelona revealed a superior aerodynamic solution very close to the original one of the RB18. Therefore, the rumors that spoke of a new philosophy for bellies have been confirmed. The philosophy reflects that presented by Red Bull already from the beginning of the season, with a bodywork that slopes downwards, in such a way as to direct the flows from the upper part of the single-seater towards the rear axle, which allows the single-seater to generate load.
From the begining
THEAston Martin after scoring the first points a Imola he wants to return to fighting in the center of the group. To do this you decided to drastically change your philosophy, despite starting from a project that in itself lends itself to such an upheaval. Which, for example, would not be possible to do on a single-seater like the Mercedes.
There is therefore curiosity in seeing the results that the English team will obtain with the arrival of these great updates. Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, however, does not believe that these innovations will allow a turning point:
“We brought a big aerodynamic update here in Barcelona, but We don't have very high expectations. I'm curious to see the level of performance, however we don't expect a leap forward in the rankings." Vettel said in the press conference preceding the weekend Barcelona.
However, his youngest teammate, Lance Stroll: "It will be a great update, the team worked hard to bring this package here. Overall it's a package with a different philosophy and we think it's the right direction. As with the other tracks, the cars behave differently and with the new regulations I hope for a more exciting race.".
