Work pays off, and although Red Bull in Netherlands you seem less performing than the one seen in Belgium there in front, there is once again Max Verstappen. A complicated start to the weekend, with problems in FP1, a disappointing step in the FP2, but nothing that isn't fixable. Once again, the real difference was made by the pilots. The Dutchman who managed to finish the perfect lap most of all is the Dutchman who this weekend also has the pressure and the energy of over 100.000 spectators at Zandvoort. Verstappen was able to find those few thousandths of a margin to give to his main rivals in Ferrari taking too many risks. There are only 21 thousandths stolen from Charles Leclerc and 92 a Sainz. An almost negligible gap, a symptom that the RB18 and the F1-75 have returned to play in the same category this weekend. And that it will be up to the riders to make the difference.
You can also see it by looking at the other side of the Red Bull Box, the number 11, which watches colleagues celebrate in silence. If one Red Bull is resurrected from the day before, the other is still in deep sleep. Sergio Perez he finished qualifying against the wall, also depriving all the others – especially the Mercedes duo – of the last attempt to improve.
Max is there, and does an encore
There's not much to say, second race at Zandvoort and second Pole. If this guy moves the masses it's because of what he puts on the track, i.e. 101%. The match will be played mainly at the start therefore the first stone was laid and this is also thanks to the great team that supports it. And to think that yesterday we ended the day with a warning of a possible penalty for Max. "Incredible. After yesterday, which was a difficult day, we worked all night to turn the situation around. Today we had a good lap, but we came very close. The atmosphere here is crazy. We changed a lot after yesterday's FP2, where we rushed to get the car together. But today it was pleasant to drive again." Max said at the end of qualifying in the Netherlands.
