Verstappen seemed at ease throughout the weekend, and the stopwatch testifies to it. The reigning champion gave Sainz a good 632 thousandths, but due to the penalty relegated to him due to engine replacement he will start 15th.
Verstappen's victory is not a mirage
The goal of Verstappen is clear: to replicate what happened in Hungary. In the Magyar land the Dutchman started tenth and won. The conditions envisaged e the characteristics of the track go hand in hand with the RB18, and number one seems to have all the credentials for aim for at least a podium finish. First place is not a given; Verstappen will have to deal with one Mercedes which could, as has already happened, fix the set-up from Saturday to Sunday; and with a Sainz more and more at ease with the single-seater. Don't forget one Leclerc which, it is not excluded, it might bother him.
Verstappen determined: we have to reassemble
The reigning champion is satisfied with his performance, praising the work done by the team: “It was a fantastic qualifying, but throughout the weekend we were on track. The car works very well, we are trying to optimize it and we managed to put everything together in qualifying. Clearly I had to pay attention to the amount of used tyres, because I have to think about where I'll start back tomorrow. I'm very happy with my ride, and it's great to be here. An amazing track with fantastic fans, I hope they enjoyed it. Tomorrow we have to reassemble, especially with this car. It would be a shame not to reach the podium".
