Max Verstappen seems to have a unique talent in overturning a weekend that wants him off the top step of the podium. The Dutchman takes the victory on the Texan circuit with the malice of the champion, overtaking Sainz at the start and dodging the pitfalls that fate seemed to throw at him. Thanks to Max's victory and Perez's fourth place, the Red Bull take home there victory in the constructors' championship, after taking the drivers' title in Japan.
When the lion is hungry…
Despite having already branded the drivers' title, Max opened up irritably on the radio after the second position in qualifying behind Sainz. At the start, number 33 solved it all with one shot that left Carlos stunned. They weren't enough wind, driveability problems and a wrong pit stop to take away the victory from Max. the champion had the hunger of those who are not satisfied, recovering the position lost on Leclerc in the pits, and overtaking seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton, who has never seemed so close to victory this season as today.
Verstappen's words and a special tribute
The Dutch did not hide the difficulty in conquering the first place, paying homage to the founder of Red Bull Dietrich Mateschitz, who passed away yesterday: “Tough victory, the stop was longer than we would have liked, but I could fight to get back in front. I gave everything today, it's obviously a difficult weekend for us. The victory is for Dietrich and for all he has done for us. The only thing we could do today was win. After the pit stop it didn't seem easy for us, but I gave everything to reassemble. We had a big chance of winning the constructors' title here and we wanted to do it in style. I think I succeeded today. With Lewis the battle lasted for a few corners, driving here is really fun. The win means a lot to me and to the team. Didi was fundamental for the whole team but we wanted to give him a good result today".
