It was a very special Friday for Max Verstappen. In fact, the Dutch driver saw very little of the track in front of his fans for a gearbox problem, which could bring him quite a bit of difficulty…
The penalty spectrum
During the FP1 in fact, Max Verstappen he had to end his session prematurely due to problems related to the exchange rate. In fact, it is not excluded that, following the analyzes that the technicians of the Austrian team they will do on RB18, the world champion can replace the gearbox (or its components) facing a penalty for his home weekend. If so, it would be the third Grand Prix in a row for Verstappen to be penalized.

Verstappen: "I tried to manage"
However, it was not a good day at Red Bull, as even in the FP2, in which Verstappen was affected by the few laps carried out in the morning and he finished in eighth place. Looking forward to tomorrow though, the number 1 driver of the Circus said:
“I didn't ride on the Softs at all, due to the time lost in FP1 and I can't really talk about the balance on the hard tyres, there was too little grip. We are missing a session, you can't change a car so much in the time of a single session. We tried to manage the situation with what we had, it wasn't a great day but there's still all night to sort things out, surely we can do better. I wasn't surprised by the gap from Ferrari, there are many things we can still improve on."
