"You have to stay calm and analyze”. This is what he said Frederic Vasseur at the end of his premiere qualification as team principal of the Ferrari. Its drivers, in view of tomorrow's race, are placed in third and fourth position with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. A good start, considering that Red Bull it doesn't seem that far away.
Vasseur: “We preferred a set of new tyres"
The question that all Ferrari fans ask themselves is: why didn't Charles try the last attempt of Q3? The explanation was given the team principal Frederic Vasseur who spoke exclusively to the microphones of Sky.
How were your qualifications?
“They spun pretty smooth. Let's say that they went quite well: before starting we didn't know the real power of our opponents, having hidden away and having tried various things".
Why didn't Leclerc try the last lap?
“We preferred to keep a set of new tires for tomorrow. He had one attempt available and I'd say starting from the second row is a great result."

Is this a decision you made together?
"Yes, we discussed it on the wall before the start of the race".
Is this related to the difficulties seen in the race last year?
“We know that this championship is not won by more pole positions. Points are scored on Sunday, so it's important to prepare for the race. In Bahrain, having a set of new tires is particularly important, obviously we will adapt to the tracks: I can already say that we won't do the same thing for example in Monaco".
Is it easy to make the pilots understand this?
"Certain. They are competitive but they know the importance of the race: we agreed everything with them”.
Will you fight for the podium or for the win tomorrow?
“It's always hard to know, because you don't know each other's fuel levels or mappings during the simulation. But we have to stay calm: the season won't end tomorrow."
