It was already known that it was a weekend in which aiming for something important was not easy. The Ferrari concludes the Japanese GP with a fourth place, conquered by Charles Leclerc, and with sixth place by Carlos Sainz. The Maranello stable he missed the podium, but said goodbye to Suzuka, earning a few points over Mercedes for second place in the constructors' championship. Ferrari team principal Frederic is analyzing the Japanese GP weekend carried out by the Red Team Vasseur, exclusively to the microphones of Sky Sport F1.
Ferrari fourth and sixth in the Japanese GP, Vasseur: "We could hardly have done more than that"
How do you evaluate Ferrari's performance? Are you satisfied?
"You cannot be fully satisfied. However, we are getting closer to Mercedes and we have done what we can. The degradation was quite adequate and we didn't have any major problems. The objective is to recover points on Mercedes".
Has Charles' feeling with the SF-23 returned?
"I don't think he lost it. In qualifying we always talk about hundredths of a second: you shouldn't be too optimistic or too pessimistic. It's always a hard-fought battle and we have to do our best to beat them, but we shouldn't draw conclusions after a simple performance.".
Today McLaren had more than you. Does this depend on the characteristics of the track?
"We are so close that from one track to another a team can have an advantage or a disadvantage: in Singapore we were ahead, today the opposite. Everyone did what they had to do: now move on to the next race".
You managed to improve your performances: will you be able to continue like this until the end of the season?
"We always know our performance. Putting everything together this weekend we wouldn't have reached the front row. There is no magic wand that gives us five seconds. We'll see what happens in Qatar: needless to say, we'll try to reach the top positions".
