Through a vote, the Motosport World Council has confirmed that the number of Sprints from next year will go from 3 to 6. A big announcement that will change the structure of calendar of the next season, also announced a few weeks ago if it has not yet been disclosed on which tracks the Sprints will take place.

Ben Sulayem's announcement
This agreement was announced the president of the FIA Ben Sulayem who declared.
“The FIA confirms that six race weekends featuring the Sprint format will take place starting from the 2023 FIA Formula One World Championship season. It's another example of the continued growth and prosperity of the top tier of motor sport.”
“Happy with the approval”
"Working closely with Stefano Domenicali and our colleagues at FOM, we have concluded an in-depth analysis on the impact of the additional Sprint sessions. We have adjusted the parameters of our work to ensure they continue to be regulated to the highest level. Sprint sessions provide an exciting dynamic to the race weekend and have proven to be very popular over the past two seasons; I am sure that this positive trend will continue and I am delighted that the World Automobile Council today gave its approval for their implementation”.

6 Sprint in 2023, Domenicali's announcement
In addition to Ben Sulayem, we also report the statements of the CEO of the Formula One Stefano Domenicali.
“I am delighted to be able to confirm that six Sprints will be part of the championship starting in 2023, building on the success of the new format first introduced in 2021.”
“The Sprint weekend offers action over three days, with riders fighting for something from the very start on Friday through to the main event on Sunday, adding more emphasis to the weekend. Feedback from fans, teams, promoters and partners has been very positive and the format is adding a new dimension to Formula 1, and we all want to ensure its success in the future."
