Mick Schumacher is still very young but his career in Formula 1 it could plummet in the coming weeks. Son of art, with the spotlight on him since his future did not yet include tracks and engines. First champion in the minor categories of the Formula, landed in the Circus without making too much noise as happened instead for other young talents who blossomed right away. The arrival in F1 in the Haas team, in 2021, alongside another rookie, Nikita Mazepin meant that the judgment on his actual value was postponed to a year in which both teams and drivers started from scratch - or almost.
La first part of 2022 has shown that Mick is still an immature, inconstant driver. With the arrival of the first points, however, Mick has undressed his insecurity, but his path is still uphill, and uncertain since he still doesn't have a seat for 2023. The discussions with Haas, and with his hard core, namely Guenther Steiner, continue, even without the support of Ferrari. There are alternatives to Schumacher but the team principal of the American team recently expressed his opinion on the possibility of Mick staying would like more guarantees from the German driver.

His future hangs in the balance at 50%
Whether you look at this percentage positively or negatively, the fact remains that Haas is still very uncertain about Mick Schumacher's future. According to Steiner, interviewed by the German "RTL", everything is still to be seen: "They always ask me these questions. It's certainly possible that Schumacher will be in the Haas cockpit again next year, but the probability is '50-50′. We don't have to decide now. We put ourselves under pressure and we don't need it, we just hurt ourselves. We want to see what happens, after all Mick had a good race at Monza. The list for 2023 is certainly long: there is not only Schumacher but most of the drivers with a super license.” The most accredited names like alternative in Mick are those of Hulkenberg, Ricciardo and Giovinazzi.

Steiner expressed himself on the first two: “Nico Hulkenberg, I think the fans would like it very much. Daniel has to decide for himself what he wants to do. There is little point in convincing him to do something, he has to decide for himself. If he feels like it, he'll definitely call, otherwise he'll probably take a gap year“. Giovinazzi took part in FP1 at Monza and will return to the Haas seat for the same occasion but in free practice in America.
And the alternatives for Mick?
The alternatives for Mick, however, are not many. The free seats - with certainty - are only 3: his in Haas, the one in Williams which yesterday announced the farewell of Latifs from 2023, and that in Alpine. Alfa Romeo has not yet confirmed Zhou but for the renewal of the Chinese it seems to be close. Furthermore, any place in AlphaTauri left by Gasly should the French land in Alpine would almost certainly be assigned to Nyck DeVries. If the scenario were to be this in fact they would be left alone Williams and Haas as options for Mick.
Ferrari ready to intervene
Despite Schumacher's break with the Maranello team, Mattia Binotto said he will have the opportunity to discuss Mick's renewal with the person concerned and Haas. "As we said at the beginning of the season, it's important for Mick to progress. In a few races we will sit at a table with him, we will take stock of the season and we will also do it with Haas to decide the best option for its future“, reported Binotto as reported by Self-Hebdo. “We invest heavily in our Academy and will continue to do so. The reason is that we feel it is important to develop the best talent and look to the future to try and find the best young people for our team".
