There are still a few weeks left until the start of the championship but February will not be remembered as a quiet month, that's for sure. After the news of the arrival of Hamilton in Ferrari, and recent allegations that have put 's position at risk Christian horner, a new scandal is ready to hit the Circus. This time we're talking about the Sauber team, which just yesterday presented the 2024 single-seater, the C44. A single-seater that represents the two super sponsors of the Swiss team, namely Stake and Kick. Two brands that have to do with gambling. And which could cause quite a few problems for Sauber. I'm from Switzerland in fact rumors have arrived regarding the fact that the sponsorship of Stake in Switzerland, not having the necessary license to practice gambling, is illegal.
Illegal stake, Sauber under investigation, what is going on?
As reported by SRF, the Federal Casino Commission promptly opened a case against Sauber, as Stake's sponsorship may violate applicable laws. The presentation of the C44 in London was dominated by the presence of the Stake logo on both the car and the team's clothing, but this collaboration could now cost the team a fine of up to 500 francs.

Sauber team boss Alunni Bravi defends the partnership, arguing that Stake is a leading entertainment brand in the world. However, the situation is further complicated by gambling advertising restrictions in some countries hosting Formula 1 races. In response, Bravi states that, if necessary, they will adopt an alternative team name depending on the country.
In Switzerland, the problem is aggravated because Sauber sponsor Stake does not have a license in the country, thus making the advertised sponsorship illegal. Legal expert Patrick Krauskopf warns that Sauber may have crossed the line into unauthorized advertising, risking significant fines. Sauber, however, maintains that it always complies with applicable laws and says it has taken all necessary measures to do so. We will therefore see how the situation evolves.
