An absolutely memorable day, in terms of performance, for Carlos Sainz. The pilot of Ferrari in fact, during the qualifying session in France, was undoubtedly one of the main candidates for pole position, together with his teammate Leclerc.
Missed pole…due to the penalty
Pole which obviously was not obtained by Sainz who, following the penalty communicated this morning during the third and last free practice session, will start from the nineteenth position in competition. It certainly won't be easy for the Spaniard, but if the pace is the one shown both yesterday (in free practice) and today in qualifying, then let's get ready to witness in a race full of overtaking by the F1-75 of 55.

Sainz: “Great collaboration. We are a great team”
Sainz that today though he was instrumental in allowing his teammate to take pole, as he himself underlined to the microphones of Sky Sports F1:
"It was a good collaboration, which demonstrates how well we work as a team. We've been criticized a lot this year in terms of strategy and teamwork, but afterwards we see that we're really strong. As a team we are united, we are working really well and we are a winning team".
"Too bad about the penalty – continued the Spaniard – if there was a weekend to take pole in the dry, this was it. You could see how fast I was already in FP2 and FP3. And then also in qualifying, in Q2, that lap was really good. The 31.0 I did in Q2 wasn't easy to beat in Q3, even with slipstream. So yes, I could have pole position. But this sport goes like this sometimes. At least I did everything I could to help Charles and the team to be in pole position".
