Solid Friday for Carlos Sainz. Ferrari's number 55 closed the second free practice session in Canada at third place, behind the two Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. After a first session that was practically not held, in the 2-minute FP90 Sainz tested all the compounds.
The result? The Spaniard seemed soddisfatto, although he admits that we can do better both in qualifying pace and in terms of race pace. Sainz, in sixth place in the drivers' world championship, is the highest-ranked driver without a podium in 2023. The Canadian Grand Prix could be the right opportunity to break the negative streak. Last year, on the track dedicated to Gilles Villeneuve, he narrowly missed out on victory.

Sainz's words
“With very little track time in FP1, it meant that FP2 was particularly challenging, but we managed to test all three compounds for dry conditions, as well as various car configurations to improve performance".
"We have made good progress during the day – added the Spaniard – The result is quite positive, even if we still need to find some rhythm and performance for tomorrow.".
