Day to forget for Carlos Sainz. The Spanish reached ad Austin hoping for another win of the season, and after the pole position in the yesterday's qualifications the chances seemed to exist. After the start of the grand prix, Carlos' nightmare showed up, which he was rammed by Russell in the first corner.
From the stars to the stables
Carlos' lap that guaranteed him the start at the pole was one of his best seasonals, recalling the one done in Q2 in the France qualifications. A lap marked by total clean driving, which was 'enough' to keep world champion Max Verstappen behind him. Upon departure however, the Dutchman burned Sainz, and when the latter tried an intersection of trajectories in curve one, George Russell hit him on the left rear side of his F1-75. After the spin Carlos continued slowly to the pits, where he is Withdrew due to left radiator problem. Certainly not the ending the Madrid player was hoping for.
Sainz, a lot of anger and a problem in departures
Carlos didn't hold back anything, declaring his dismay and frustration at the incident and the penalty: "I am very angry and disappointed, this is the second consecutive race that I finish without even doing a lap. I was in battle with Max and from behind comes someone who wasn't even in battle with us pushing me out: it's frustrating. The five second penalty is not enoughe compared to my retirement, but I don't want to evaluate the FIA penalties. I didn't get off to a bad start, Max got off to a great start. Here in Austin we don't know why but the P2 starts better than the P1. Also us we know this year we have a problem with the starts with this car".
