Carlos Sainz in Spain conquered the front row - the first of the season - in front of his own fans, also taking advantage of a subdued Fernando Alonso in the qualifications to Barcelona. The Spanish Ferrari driver managed to finish the session without problems, a great sign considering that the team brought so many updates in Spain. But if on the one hand the box celebrates on the other the problems experienced by Charles Leclerc turn on alarm bells. It will be essential to understand the origin of the Monegasque's problems and understand if he is related to the new upgrades. Starting again however, from what happened on the track we feel the sensations of a particularly happy Carlos Sainz at the end of the session.
Sainz: "P2 best possible result, tomorrow I aim for the podium"
In view of tomorrow's Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz says he is satisfied with the work done in a rather complex qualifying, and which above all saw several teams contending for the most advanced positions.
“I needed this start to the weekend. We went through Q1, Q2 without problems and it wasn't obvious that we brought a lot of new things here. Then being able to make just one attempt in Q3 with the new set of reds made everything more uncertain, and one of the most complicated qualifying, due to the conditions. But we succeeded and we are in the best possible position for tomorrow's race , to try to get on the podium. Overall I'm satisfied with the performance, I pushed giving everything, we were all a bit close, so I think second place today is the best possible result.”

The updates seem to work at the moment, waiting to discover the problem with Leclerc who will start 19th. Track conditions will vary further tomorrow, and it will be essential to have positive feedback on tire degradation. In front of him Max Verstappen seems unassailable, but with Leclerc further away all attention will be on Carlos. He will be able to bring home the first one podium season, as well as the second podium for the team?
