We had it said yesterday and finally the track confirmed it. The American weekend can be a great occasion for Carlos Sainz. The pilot Ferrari finishes in pole position in qualifying in Austin ahead of Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen.
Incisive at the last attempt
Super performance for the Spaniard who, after a good Q1-Q2, hadn't yet achieved an incredible performance. which instead arrived in his last attempt. The number 55 on the grid has a great opportunity tomorrow, but he will have to defend himself against a possible attack from Max Verstappen. The Spaniard is insistently looking for the success that is missing from the race in Great Britain and, after various attempts to reach pole, he has finally managed to bring it home, on the track, without taking advantage of other people's penalties.
Sainz: "The wind has a difficult life"
Meanwhile Sainz enjoys the pole position and, at the end of the qualification, declared.
“The lap was difficult due to the wind, with very strong gusts. Driving these cars here is an adventure. You never know how much grip to expect. But I put together a nice lap with no mistakes. I had been waiting for pole for several races, I was close to it but I was no longer able to take it. Tomorrow Red Bull will be the favourites. They have better race pace and normally they beat us in the race because Max does a great job and they have a great car in race configuration. But we will try to do everything tomorrow to beat them and win the race. It would be a fantastic way to start this period of the last four races.”
