Everything went according to plan, or rather, according to the initial idea for Carlos Sainz who closes the first Sprint of the year in fourth place in the standings. An excellent comeback by the Spaniard who, starting from tenth, managed to conquer six positions which will allow Ferrari to play on equal terms with Red Bull tomorrow.
One thing is certain, regardless of how tomorrow's race goes, Sainz gave everything today, as he himself confirmed: “Today I couldn't do more – declared the Madrid native – but finishing fourth already puts me in a position to be able to fight for tomorrow, because we are where we want to be. I knew I had to finish in the top five, and I did it. Anything could happen tomorrow, since it will be important to be two against two, but today was a great comeback. We saw that Red Bull was quicker in the dry: they have less degradation on the front tires and this makes them go faster in the second half of the stint. In any case, tomorrow we will try, and we will put the car in order to see if we will be able to battle with them.".
