Close the season of F1 to be able to focus on the start of the next one is undoubtedly the best solution for many riders. It is true that, before making room for 2023, it is right to analyze the year that has just ended. With this philosophy Carlos Sainz wanted to comment on the season that has just ended.
Through thick and thin
It is not easy to judge what the Spaniard did. Started a bit with the handbrake, especially seeing the great strength of Leclerc, the feeling problem with the F1-75 it was quite evident. However, in the second half of the season, Sainz made a great recovery, also winning his first victory in the Circus, on a historical track such as Silverstone. However, the standings speak quite clearly: fifth place is not a super satisfactory result.
Sainz: "Leclerc showed me my limits"
Sainz is also of the same thought. The Spaniard in fact, in a recent interview, analyzed his year in this way.
“The season has been tougher than I expected if I have to be honest. I'm not satisfied. I've driven in many teams and I've always given my best right away, while in Ferrari I haven't been able to get the results I wanted. Many times I have conquered good positions but there have also been many disappointments. I found myself 2/3 tenths slower than my partner and I didn't immediately understand where the problem was. For this I worked hard to change my pace and improve. Leclerc made me understand my limits. He rode well and I noticed that he was stronger and where I was wrong. I have a good level now and this will be positive because next year I'll be able to start from a better base, I'm very happy."
