A special start to the weekend for Carlos Sainz. The Spanish driver, during Friday's free practice, concludes at fourth in FP1 and fifth in the second session.
Sainz: "FP2 better than FP1"
La Ferrari seems to push again, on a track that technically seemed to be more in favor of Red Bull. The updates, related above all to the very unloaded rear wing, seem to have worked. Sainz knows it and, at the end of the second free practice, said.
"It was an interesting Friday – declared the Spaniard – as it always happens here in Baku. The first session wasn't easy because I struggled a bit too much with bottoming and porpoising and this didn't give me the right confidence. In the second session we worked in the right direction and thus we managed to improve our competitiveness and sensations".
The flag problem
The Spaniard also wanted to explain why failed to set the time for the qualifying simulation with the soft tyres. “Overall the session went smoothly even though I was unable to put together a fast lap on the Softs due to the yellow flags – said – tomorrow we will try to take another step forward and then have a clean qualifying in the afternoon".
