It was a Sprint beautiful and above all full of twists and turns. To win it is George Russell who finishes in front of the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz and his teammate Hamilton.
What management!
Super performance by Russell. The English pilot of the Mercedes didn't give Max a break Verstappen and, after a more than prepared overtone, he distanced himself and led undisturbed. Tire management, i.e. the softs, it was flawless and now the goal is not to make mistakes in the race.
Russell: “It was incredible”
Russell will start for the second time of the season in front of everyone. The last time was in Hungary; on that occasion, however, Max Verstappen won. The British's objective now is clearly to finish tomorrow's GP on the top step of the podium.
“It was an incredible race, I didn't expect to have so much pace, but this shows how much work everyone is putting into the team and how much we have improved in the last three races since Austin. The car is going really great, but I don't know how it would have gone if Max had had the softs on, but we take this win. In a Sprint race it's difficult, because you have to manage the risks, and even if I wanted to aim for the win I didn't want to overdo it. I tried to take the opportunity and I succeeded. It's unthinkable to start from the front row tomorrow, but it still demonstrates the great work we've done. It will be a good fight, also because Max will recover for sure, but with our starting position we can focus on the strategy to look for the win".
