Rumors about the renewal of the Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz had been filtering through the paddock of the world champion circus for some time, and it seems that the extension of the bond between the Spaniard and the provisional team leader of both championships is about to arrive. As reported by Fulvio Solms in today's edition of the Corriere dello sport, in fact, the pen to sign the new contract of the Madrid driver would be ever closer to the signature box. The deed could be completed in the next few days, with the official announcement that it would be made before the Imola grand prix on 24 April. Ferrari therefore chooses to confirm both drivers for the next two years, united, if everything goes as planned, by the same contract expiry: 2024. The Maranello team decides in this way to place a further solidity of the team, securing what is undoubtedly one of the most valid pairings of the current driver line-up, and giving an important certainty to a driver who drives in one of the two favorite teams for the run-up to both world titles.
The team is perfectly aware of the importance of the Spaniard's psychological aspect: Carlos is coming from a very difficult weekend to digest, for unfortunate reasons and due to a nervous mistake, which cost him what hopefully could have been a ride towards the podium area. Here the team, perfectly aware of the driver's talent and skills, decides to give him a boost of confidence in view of a championship that will end in the distant next winter, signing the deed, barring unforeseen events, before arriving in that which will be a red-colored bedlam, where the riders of the home team will certainly feel more pressure than in the other seasonal appointments.
