They arrived thereand first images of the RB20 from the filming day at the iconic Silverstone track, showing some interesting aerodynamic changes compared to the RB19.
After a week in which we discussed anything but track performance, today we can take an early look at the RB20. Without any official announcement, the Milton Keynes team organized a filming day on the Silverstone circuit with the single-seater destined to compete in the 2024 championship as the protagonist. Thanks to amateur videos, we were able to obtain the first images of the RB20, which reveal the livery and some changes made.
During the session, the car traveled 200 kilometers on Pirelli test tyres, as prescribed by the regulations. It was the first time that three-time champion Max Verstappen, favorite for this season's title, was able to test the new car designed by Adrian Newey. Despite the previous uncertainties expressed by the British engineer on the project, the images that have arrived suggest that the RB20 may already present significant innovations.

The new RB20, the first images: two key innovations
Even if the quality of the images does not allow us to appreciate the details well, a significantly longer nose is evident compared to its previous version, which now seems to attach to the front wing in the first profile rather than in the second, as happened with the RB19. Another obvious difference concerns i bazooka, which compared to the 2023 car start from a higher point and from the wing attachment.
Despite the rumors circulating indicating that the RB20 would only be an evolution of the previous one, with modifications aimed at correcting any defects of the RB19, the images could suggest a less conservative approach.
A competitive grid thanks to a stable regulation
A clear obstacle in the continuation of the 2023 Formula 1 season has been the clear dominance of Max Verstappen. However, the Dutch champion he has clearly expressed what he believes is necessary to make the championship more competitive: a stable regulation without significant changes over time.
“As we approach 2024 and my pursuit of a fourth world title, I believe that stability and consistency in the regulations could benefit other teams in closing the gap to Red Bull, thus fueling more intense competition for the world title.” Verstappen underlined.
“With the current specifications of the cars, the margin for improvement is less wide than in the past, when elements such as i barge board they made everything much more complex. With the current technical guidelines, other teams can get closer more easily."
At the moment, the FIA seems inclined not to accept Max's request, as significant changes to the regulations for 2026 have been planned for some time.

Horner case: climate pluggable in RedBull?
Even in the Red Bull paradise there is no shortage of shadows. The investigation opened on CEO and team principal Christian Horner has cast a shadow on the stability of the team. Horner's statements at the hearing on February 9 have not yet clarified the situation, and the outcome of the investigation is not expected before the first race in Bahrain.
The hypothesis of a possible internal crisis in the team, with a possible resignation of Horner at the center of attention, could compromise the climate within the team that won the previous constructors' championship. The presence of the team principal seems to be confirmed at the official presentation of the new RB20, scheduled for February 15th at 20pm.
