If at the beginning of the year the performance between Sergio Perez e Max Verstappen they seemed to be very similar. The last races before the break have brought out a different verdict: after Chec's victory in Monacoor, the points between him and his teammate were only 15 and, therefore, the pilot of Mexican origin was widely fighting for the title. However, the last few matches have given a different sentence: in the last six, in fact, Perez was the fifth driver for points scored, which is 63, exactly 70 points less than Verstappen (133). Difficulties seem to be above all in qualifying, where, in the same span, Checo was eliminated in Q2 three times out of six!
Different updates? Maybe not
The thing that immediately catches the eye when there is such a drastic drop from a rider is the behavior of the car. Comparing the onboards at the beginning of the season with those of the last few races, let's see how Perez does it struggles to keep the car on trackto. The same car that Verstappen absolutely drives wave. In the first grands prix, on the other hand, it was precisely the one who had these problems the Dutch world champion who complained about a very strong understeer, solved through little ones trim adjustments. Adjustments that are also made on Perez's car, but what they don't seem to bear the same fruit. The only explanation that could be given to this negative trend of a rider with so much experience as Perez is the diversification of updates.
Perez: "The developments don't penalize me"
On this subject have been made many hypotheses which could, however, be confirmed or denied only by the person concerned. Checo was in fact interviewed by RacingNews365 to which he stated that he too was implicated when it came to the developments to be made to improve the performance of the machine. “We are both focused on the development of the car. In the end it is the team that takes care of the development of the car and we are pushing and trying to get the most out of every single weekend. It would be nice to improve the car in all its aspects and try to be a little more complete in all areas.".
