With one season just ended, practically a week ago, there are those who have already been working on 2023 for a while. This is the case of the Pirelli that after the tests carried out last Tuesday in Abu Dhabi, is ready to conclude its work for the next vintage.
Isola: "Understeer problem"
Of course, there will be no shortage of news, as stated by the head of the Pirelli Motorsport technical area Mario Isola a Motorsport.com.
“The main objective of the new construction generation is clear: to reduce understeer. It has been a common problem throughout the season, especially in the low speed corners. Among the objectives we have set ourselves is also the reduction of wear on the front axle, a minor aspect which was significant in the first races of 2022 and then gradually grew during the season hand in hand with the development of the single-seaters. Obviously the teams won't say a word, but the new cars will also have the basic characteristics of reducing understeer, so we don't want to go too far in this direction so as not to trigger the opposite problem".

The C0 is born
Although the season that ended was very positive, Mario Isola has already made it official which will introduce a new compound: the C0. The reason? Here is the explanation.
"The C1 2022 – commented Mario Isola – it worked very well at some tracks like Zandvoort and Silverstone, so we decided to introduce a new compound that will fall between the two. The current C1 will become the C0, and there will be a new C1 with more grip than the previous one. With six compounds available, we will have the possibility to define new allocations by skipping a level, there may be weekends in which we will choose C0, C2 and C3".
