We are looking for performance. There Formula 1 opens the doors of the new season and does it in Bahrain. Let's talk about the same track where i pre-season tests, which gave a first indication of the strengths of the various stables.
McLaren, not very encouraging tests
Who has particularly disappointed the expectations is the McLaren. The Woking stables in fact, she seemed to be in great difficulty. After the fifth place achieved last year, following a very close fight with Alpine, McLaren's goal with its MCL60 will be to try to give continuity. The team will try to do this with a very talented and young driver duo, composed by Lando Norris and the new entry Oscar Piastri.

For Piastri it is of the debut in Formula 1. The Australian, following a long negotiation that led him to separate from Alpine, hopes he has made the right choice, even if his feelings they don't seem to be (for now) very positive.
We're close to your first race… was it a moment you've been dreaming of for a long time?
"Absolutely. I think it's been 12 years since I started racing: from that moment on I had the goal of arriving in Formula 1… and here I am”.
How eager are you to get back on track after a year off?
“After a year out of racing I realized even more how much I love racing. While there may be some downsides, it's always better to have them than not to run. I'm coming back even hungrier than in the past and now that we're here I can't wait to get started”.
Did you do some karting to keep fit?
“I stopped to do some tests on the track. It's obviously not the same as when you're racing; I ran a bit on the simulator but I have to admit that it's very tough when you don't have any opponents and there isn't the competition that you find here. I tried to do what I could."
At what level is McLaren?
“The tests didn't go particularly well, but I think we'll have a clearer idea of our position tomorrow. I think we're in the center of the group and we'll find out where on Saturday night."
