Started from Pole in Miami, Sergio Perez immediately began to defend himself, trying to manage the tires as best he could while waiting for the inevitable duel, the one with his teammate, the two-times world champion Max Verstappen who was able to recover from ninth position without too many problems. The rivalry between Max and Perez is a duel that fans, accustomed for a couple of years to seasons capable of giving a great show, such as the 2021 one with the close fight between Verstappen and Hamilton, or last year with Leclerc candidate for the title after an extraordinary start by Ferrari, they hope it will last until the end of the season.
Perez: "every race is important to make up the gap with Max"
Formula 1 stops at Monte Carlo. Right here, a year ago Sergio Perez achieved one of the most exciting victories of his career. Although tortuous, the track exalts riders like Perez, who love risk and love to touch walls and guardrails. This week the Mexican will have an important chance considering the few points that separate him from his teammate, who is a little less comfortable on a track like this. "Finishing in front of Max is very important" says Perez during the press conference in Monte-Carlo. "I don't want him to build too big a lead, and every weekend is an opportunity to close the gap.”

Although Perez's ambition is to be able to fight for the World Championship, the reality is much more bitter and we can also see it in the data at Fanta F1. The reality is that we are facing one of the strongest drivers of the new generation of Formula 1, – Verstappen – aboard an infallible car. A rider who is not like the others, and for this reason few question him. A driver who makes little or no mistakes, the number 1. The number of champions, which Max wears with great pride and a pinch of presumption even on the nose of his RB19. Just after the victory in Miami, with a finger at the end of the race he wanted to underline it by indicating his race number. Probably due to the criticisms that came after the Baku Grand Prix.
But the numbers at Fanta F1 speak for themselves
The criticisms have reopened the bets on a possible fight for the world title between Perez and Verstappen. A fight in which, however, our Fanta-managers do not believe. Only 2,27% of fantasy managers had deployed him in Baku, but a week later despite the excellent results that weekend the figure hasn't changed much. In Miami, it was in fact only 2,39% who deployed him against Verstappen's good 9,41%. Although both have high averages at Fanta F1, and Max's price is decidedly higher, the choice always leans towards the Dutch.
We can't know what turn the world championship will take, but at the moment the only one who seriously believes in a heated confrontation between Perez and Max seems to be only the Mexican. However, we'll see if he manages to snatch victory again this year amidst the glitz and glam of Monte-Carlo.
