Like every Thursday of the race weekend, the paddocks are usually filled with journalists and media for interviews with the drivers. However, in Austria the absence of one of these did not go unnoticed: Sergio Perez. The Mexican did not go to the circuit like his colleagues. It was Red Bull who communicated this promptly and explained the reasons for the absence.
Checo sick, not yet 100%
The Mexican fell ill during the night and is still not at 100%. Precisely for this reason the team would have rested him on Thursday. “Checo will not be on track today. He felt ill last night and is taking a day off to ensure we are in the best possible condition for this weekend's race“, communicated the team.

This weekend it will be particularly challenging given that, due to the weekend sprint, already from Friday there will be a certain excitement on the track with the qualifying for the grand prix. Furthermore, for Red Bull it is the home race weekend. A particularly important event, made even more important by the 100 victories achieved just a couple of weeks ago in Canada. In the last three races the Mexican has failed to reach the podium. A disappointing result considering the clear superiority of the RB19 over the competition. Perez's future, according to what emerges from the latest rumors, is already at risk. In Austria the team has several options for replacement should Perez not be at 100%. These two options are those of Daniel Ricciardo or one between Tsunoda and De Vries, with Liam Lawson replacing the absent in Alpha Tauri.
