Parla Saffron
As reported on Twitter by the headboard Motorsport, according to the team principal, Otmar Szafnauer, Oscar piastri will race in Formula 1 next year, even if precise indications are not given on the timing, and therefore if it will debut already from the middle of this season or directly from 2023. When asked whether Oscar will race in Formula 1, Szafnauer replied, in fact, with a curt “I can't predict the future but, siI wouldn't rule it out".
At Alpine there are three talented riders. Esteban Ocon has a long term agreement which will last at least until the end of 2024. Alonso is expiring but his help is also fundamental and there is interest in continuing on both sides. Both Ocon and Alonso therefore do not seem to be at risk. However, there is obviously the will and the haste to give Piastri a seat as soon as possible, Formula 2 champion, parked in the Alpine pits already this season.
Future in Williams for Piastri?
As to where Piastri should go, Szafnauer didn't say too much. The rumors speak of a landing in Williams. At present, the English team has two seats free for 2023, even if the presence of Alexander Albon it would also seem certain for next year, also considering the good performance of the driver on loan from Red Bull. The question of a change with remains to be clarified Latifs. The Canadian pilot is already a goner, actually, and there is even speculation that Piastres I can replace from the next Grand Prix, Silverstone. But other information is coming from the upper floors.
Szafnauer said he has no information about it. Doubts also expressed by Williams team principal, Jost capito who is asked if both Williams drivers will see the end of the season. “Yes, we have no other plans" he answered I got it. So the picture would seem clear: Plates in Williams but from 2023. Latifi will therefore be able to continue the season, unless an obvious breaking point is reached with the team.
However, we remain on the alert, in case something changes during this week's break between Canada and Silverstone.
