The start of the Formula 1 season has seen great dominance for the moment Red Bull. Max Verstappen and Sergius Perez they do nothing but divide victories and share with the team double wins which are also fundamental for the constructors' classification, with a strength that almost prevents their opponents from trying to at least keep up with them.
For now, Red Bull dominates
A departure that so far has given less show than expected, at least as regards the fight for the title. For these reasons, Liberty Media ran for cover, presenting the new Sprint format. The goal, as also stated by Sundays, is to increase the spectacularity of the sport, by selling it almost as one Show. In fact, there were many words from the former Ferrari team principal on the subject, from: "I want to delete free practice” up to the possibility of having a calendar composed of 32 races.

Domenicali: "The first Sprint was fantastic"
Liberty Media's goal, therefore, on increasing entertainment is increasingly constant. However, the innovations introduced seem to work and Domenicali himself affirms it, as reported by FormulaPassion: “Of course we did it in agreement with the teams , FIA. As you know, our idea is to ensure that there is always action on the track during the race weekend. Indeed, the result of this year's premiere has been very encouraging, and all our partners, promoters, media partners and even the teams are very satisfied".

“Obviously there is something we still have to perfect, to see if we can do even better at the end of the summer, but in general the first weekend of the sprint format was fantastic. As always, when you want to do something different in a very standardized ecosystem, the reaction from mainstream fans is one to expect in the long run. With the new fans we have seen a very positive reaction, and the promoters have been pushing for it”.
“We don't want every weekend with the Sprint”
Coming instead to the number of Sprints in one season, Domenicali was very clear, reassuring the fans: they won't be there every weekend. "We do not want – said the CEO – that in future all races will be held in the Sprint format. We want to keep a limited number, maybe a third of the calendar, and create something special regarding the competition that can give sporting value with trophies and of course commercial opportunities to these things. I think this is the right path to follow."
