What a Monza we could witness crazy race, was already in the air. But, to further increase this possibility, it will be the penalties and the increasingly numerous drivers who will be forced to start from the rear…
How many penalties!
It's only Thursday, but the list of riders who will be penalized at Monza is already very numerous. In fact, there is the risk of a sort of Spa 2.0, in which to start from the bottom there were even seven pilots. For the moment, there are four on the list, and not all for the same reason. The first which, with certainty, will receive penalty positions(with ten precision), will be Yuki Tsunoda. The Japanese, after having covered a lap with the seat belts unfastened in the competition in Holland, he received a reprimand, the fifth actually, which cost him the penalty.
Penalty, there is also Sainz
However, Monza is also a track where the long straight and slipstream allow for great overtaking opportunities and, considering upcoming races such as Singapore and Suzuka, the Temple of Speed seems to be the best track to go to for penalties. For this very reason, at home Ferrari you chose to mount one new power unit for Carlos Sainz. The Spanish driver, after having changed it to France, will therefore be forced to start from the rear to mount a new engine that will feature updatesthe. In fact, we are talking about a lighter hybrid, about 2kg, and more performing. The last time Sainz was penalized, at Paul Ricard, he gave a great show on Sunday with a super comeback. The Spaniard's goal will be the same for this weekend too, considering the red tide that will be present on Sunday.
The list gets longer
However, it will not be only Tsunoda and Sainz who will receive sanctions. In fact, there will be two former teammates to keep company: Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas. In fact, the English rider will be penalized for installing the fourth power unit. The incident with Alonso a SPA & WELLNESS showed a number of problems on W13 of the seven times world champion who has decided to mount a fourth unit for the Italian GP. Instead, it was a power unit failure at Zandvoort that led to Valtteri Bottas to mount a new V6, as well as a new turbocharger and MGU-H. For him too, therefore, Monza will be a race in which he will be called upon to make a comeback.
It's not over yet
For now, these are the drivers who will serve penalties ahead of the Italian Grand Prix. Watch out for tomorrow though, with the first free practice session it could give us still other drivers in penalty. So welcome to Monza, the weekend has just begun.
