It really hurts to find yourself writing an article to comment on what happened in Australia. Difficult, indeed almost impossible, to explain and describe the decisions taken. However, there is only one certainty: this is not Formula 1.
We want Formula 1
Needless to explain: they didn't understand anything. There is little to say about it. The last restart, the third of the race, was unwatchable. In addition to the great chaos, which saw the two Alpines out, the most unwatchable choice concerns the decision to restart to complete a lap under the safety car. A bad choice, in which the question seems to be clear: but why not follow the rules? It seems to be quite simple: with such a disastrous restart, if at least one lap hasn't been completed, why not end the race with the last starting grid? Mostly show? NO, because having a race like this finish under the safety car, also depriving the two Alpines of what they did on the track, is neither good for the sport nor for the famous "show” that everyone is talking about.

The Sainz case
We make clarity. Sainz's mistake is there: the Spaniard was optimistic, off the trajectory and even a long hair. Alonso, on the other hand, was in perfect line. Sainz's penalty is fair. But the Spaniard is sanctioned for a 'phantom restart', in the sense that it was effectively canceled for the purposes of the final outcome of the tender. How was it supposed to be? O Restart with that lap counted, then Sainz P3, Alonso P11, and then penalties for the accident (quite right). Or restart with that lap eliminated, then the pilot Ferrari P4, Alonso P3, and no penalty given that the lap was, in fact, non-existent.
Goal show
Restart as if the race were to take place, under the safety car, but eventually taking the checkered flag, it's really embarrassing. We need to intervene, to try to avoid inconsistency. But in the end we can't say if we will be able to have a change, because, in order to see a checkered flag, we have invented the impossible.
Not so
The enthusiasts don't deserve this, and neither do the racers. We need to calm down and understand what this sport really is, because in this way you can risk reaching a point of no return. And we cannot afford this.
