Adrian Martin Newey one of the brightest minds of the modern F1 era, won with Williams and McLaren and has been making a fortune for Red Bull since 2006, who sees his contract expire at the very end of this season. Speculations regarding his future have not been lacking at all… there isn't a single team that wouldn't want him.
The Career of Adrian Martin Newey
The sixty-four-year-old British has now more than forty years of career in Motorsport, in F1, where he has collected many successes and in Formula Indy where he has equally made his genius count. He was born the day after Christmas 1958 in Stratford-upon-Avon (birthplace of William Shakespeare). As soon as he finished his studies in 1980 he began working in F1 with the Fittipaldi team. After his apprenticeship, Adrian's first real personal project, the March GTP proved to be a winner for two consecutive years, proof of his talent. By now an innovator especially in the aerodynamic field, of which there was still too little talk in F1, and after some sporting failures (as happens to all the greats) in 1990 he signed the contract with Williams, a team in rapid growth at the time. From here on his career went uphill, he arrived in 1997 in McLaren and in 2006 in Red Bull… the rest is history.
Dressed in red?
In recent days, given the imminent expiry of the British player's contract, rumors saw him near Ferrari, who has just "spent” at Red Bull. Newey would have been the big deal, that piece of the puzzle that the redhead is missing. But alas, although Vasseur tried to impress the engineer, his offer was refused… again.
It is not the first time that Newey approaches Ferrari, and it is he who reveals it. The first proposal came in 1985 when Maranello offered him to direct the Indycar project that Ferrari will never complete. But it is Newey who admits that at the dawn of the hybrid era, he himself had thought of wearing the red suit. Cause? Red Bull's supplier at the time: Renault, which Newey didn't like.

The contract extension arrives
As nice as it is to dream of having this brilliant mind at Ferrari one day, at the moment Horner is tightening his grip. In view of the expiry of the contract, in fact, he immediately proceeded to seek a compromise between the parties, which appears to have been reached. As they say: Never change a winning team!
The official announcement has not yet arrived and the details of the contract are not known but Horner seems very confident in his statements.
“He covers a lot of areas and to have his expertise and experiences to draw on, and the way he works with young people, is great. He's motivated as always and he is also interested in what is happening in the engine division and in Red Bull Advanced Technology. He then oversees the three pillars of our Milton Keynes headquarters."
Love continues… and there is a perception that it will continue for a long time:
“It can be seen that he is fully convinced of the concept and that he sees long-term potential.”
The other teams just have to buy his book "How to Build a Car" (how to build a car), what can I say, enjoy reading!
