The young man Mick Schumacher he's one of those riders currently on the grid still left without a seat for 2023. Haas is in no hurry to renew it, but with a vacant seat in Alpine, after the "betrayal" of Fernando Alonso who chose to run for theAston Martin from 2023 the German's gaze could take him to a horizon far from the "nest" Ferrari. Although there are several contenders for the second Alpine seat, rejected by Oscar Piastri at the beginning of the month, a clue on social media, now as reliable and trustworthy as a press release, has relaunched Schumacher's name.
Does Haas let him go?
It took Mick more than a year to get his first points in Formula 1. A path that started in the opposite way to others that immediately "exploded" proving their worth. The points finish, after a difficult start to the season, gave him a great boost and brought him to the awareness that the fear of failing does more harm than good. Although the results have started to arrive, Haas is still hesitant to renew Mick, who, as another option, would also have to look for a new adventure away from "home" Maranello. Ferrari would like to give him a seat in a satellite team, such as Haas and Alfa Romeo, which could allow him to remain in its orbit as an Academy driver, to make him grow. But still everything is silent.
The summer break did not provide further developments to the practice, as also said by the Haas team principal, Steiner. The situation with Mick has remained in stalemate and in just a week we'll be back on track, in Belgium for the second half of the season. But if Steiner admits that he has neither looked for nor spoken to Mick, it is said that the young driver has not done the same with other teams, such as Alpine for example.
The clue on social media
While the future with Haas remains "pending" despite Mick's good performances, the one with Alpine is less and less "impossible". In fact, two new followers have not gone unnoticed, recently appearing on Mick Schumacher's Instagram profile. Mick started following il Alpine team principal, Otmar Szafnauer, who recently spoke of the various "candidates" for Alonso's seat. And it didn't end there. Mick has also started following another member of the Alpine family, CEO Laurent Rossi.
The latter had a bigger sounding board and everyone is now wondering what to expect in the coming weeks. The nature of this gesture and the weight to be attributed to it are not known, but the fact that this occurred during the break period, in which the attention span is lower and in which there is no news from either side fuels the hopes of fans who would like to see Mick's value in a more competitive team.
We will find out the truth very soon, but at the moment Alpine's concern is to resolve the situation with Oscar piastri given that the Australian driver holds two legally valid contracts: the one with Alpine and the one with McLaren. While waiting for this situation to unravel, however, the various candidates, including Mick, can continue to show themselves, with one tactic or another.
