Big scare for George Russell: the Mercedes driver, in fact, said goodbye prematurely to the last tests of the season, carried out at Abu Dhabi, following a small inconvenience. The Englishman, who finished in twentieth position, as reported by Motorsport.com, it crashed against the side guards in turn 6 (where the speed reaches around 320 km/h), following a problem to the braking system on his W14.
Impact with lateral barriers, reconstruction
An unpleasant inconvenience he saw Russell have a powerful contact against the outer barriers of the track. The car that returned to the Mercedes garage actually presented a suspension completely torn. Based on what Roberto Chinchero says, it cannot be ruled out that the shell could have been damaged. It should be underlined, in fact, that following the impact, Russell no longer took to the track and concluded his day of testing in Abu Dhabi with only 58 laps under his belt.

Russell, a less than brilliant 2023 greeted with a scare in the Abu Dhabi tests
Fortunately, no serious problems for the rider, who is preparing to experience the winter break at the end of a not particularly brilliant year, especially compared to Hamilton which finished in third place in the constructors' championship. Despite this, the number #63 Mercedes greeted the 2023 vintage with an excellent podium which, ultimately, allowed his team to get the better of Ferrari in the fight for the second square in the constructors' championship.
