Franz Tost leaves AlphaTauri: here's who in his place
The news that has been making the rounds in the paddock is the one concerning the team principal of theAlpha Tauri, Franz tost. Of common agreement with the team, decided to leave his post after well leading the team. He will take over, probably as early as next season Laurent mekies, who had just announced that he had broken away from Ferrari and from his role, that of DS of the Scuderia.

Of course, leaving your seat after so long it is never easy. For Tost, however, a future like consultant of the team, Niki Lauda style with the Mercedes. In an interview, you said how it was for him an honour lead this team and that a special thanks goes above all to Dietrich Mateschitz: “First of all, I would like to thank Dietrich Mateschitz, who has given me the incredible opportunity to be Team Principal of Scuderia Toro Rosso and Scuderia AlphaTauri for the last 18 years. It has been a real privilege to lead the Scuderia for such a long period and a great pleasure to work with so many motivated and competent people who share my passion for Formula 1.".
Furthermore, the Austrian talked about his successor, Mekies, and the new CEO of the AlphaTauri, Peter bayer, considering them highly qualified for the roles: “At 67, the time has come to hand over and with Peter as the new CEO and Laurent as Team Principal, we have found two very professional people, who will take the team to the next level. I want to thank everyone for the excellent cooperation”.
Mekies arrives
There was no lack of it the words of future team principal Laurent Mekies: “First of all, I would like to pay tribute to Franz for the great work he has done in almost two decades of presidency in Faenza. I wish him well for the future and know that both Peter and I will be able to count on his input and advice in the times to come. Looking to the future, I am honored to take on the role of Team Principal and to return to the Scuderia where I have spent most of my career. Scuderia AlphaTauri has all the ingredients needed for greater success in the future and, together with Peter, I am looking forward to that.”
