In Formula 1 the season, in one respect, never ends. The head is already focused on the 2023 vintage, with some teams, above all McLaren with Brown, who complain about some difficulties encountered during this season.
Not an exciting season
This is the case of the McLaren. It hasn't been a wonderful season for the British team, considering fifth place in builders(hence the overtaking of the Alpine). The greatest difficulties were encountered with Daniel Ricciardo who was replaced by Oscar Piastri. The goal for next year will therefore be to get up and try, with Norris and the F2 champion, conquering the fourth place in the constructors with arrogance.
Brown: 'We need more freedom'
For the McLaren there is however a problem, which is linked to the lack of freedom on the developments that the regulation of the Federation grants. In this regard, the words of the CEO of the Woking stables Zak Brown.
“If there is a cost cap, then there should be more technical freedom within the budget cap. In this way, more innovations and risks would be seen, and the cars would be even more diverse: I am thinking of the case of the Brawn GP and the double diffuser in 2009. At the end of the year, the situation was balanced, so why not give more freedom in the regulations ? It's the fascinating part of this sport, in this way I think there would be more innovations and everyone would be able to learn more from others. The budget cap is also nerve-wracking, because you want to get as close to the cap as possible, but if you have an accident or a snag then you may go further. However, we did the dress rehearsal in 2020, we had a lot of clarifications and opportunities to ask questions and we did a lot: the FIA did a great job."
