It's not an easy start to the season for the McLaren. The Woking stables continues to experience many difficulties and even when the weekend seems to be going well - like Norris in Canada - they arrive decisions (in this case the five second penalty) which weigh like a boulder.
A very difficult start
The MCL60 has had great difficulty since the first race in Bahrain. Norris and Piastri were never able to find the right feeling with the car and the results were visible. Surprisingly however, McLaren actually proved to be from Monaco a very strong car in the wet. During the Monte-Carlo GP, in fact, Norris - who finished in ninth place - was lapping the times of the drivers who then went on to the podium. Even in Canada, with the rain which was the protagonist during the qualifications, the papaya team managed to place both drivers in the top ten, which then faded in the race.

McLaren, updates coming for the next three GPs
We need to improve and there's no doubt about that. For this reason, at McLaren very important updates are ready starting from the Austrian Grand Prix, with team principal Andrea Star which was very clear: the news will arrive for the next 3 Grands Prix. "I will focus on this new update package – stated the Italian engineer – but through the next three races where we will introduce it, we should be just a few tenths faster".

Stella: “We want to give a turn to McLaren's season”
Coming to expectations for the Austrian Grand Prix, Stella added: “Austria is a track where we have always done well in the past. I think there are six or seven corners where four are high speed that we should be competitive on. One of our first steps will be to bring updates and I believe that it will be important to see how the track adapts to our car. We're talking about a big hub in terms of possibility of turning the season around. Not only thanks to what we will be able to do in Austria, but also to what we will have later."
Without forgetting the Sprint
In Austria the peculiarity will be the structure of the weekend, with the presence of Sprint. For McLaren there will only be the opportunity to test the updates in a free practice session, but this doesn't worry Stella: “I know we will only have one session and for this reason I hope that we will be able to make the most of the new update package, and then continue on this path and become even more competitive."
