Very few people had doubts about the feasibility of winning the necessary points, and indeed the weekend of Abu Dhabi took place as expected, with the conquest of fourth place in the Formula 2 championship by Logan sargeant, who in doing so officially obtained his superlicense and was confirmed by Williams as Nicholas Latifi's replacement for 2023.
Born on December 31, 2000 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Logan Hunter Sargeant made his debut in the world of karting at the age of 8, winning third place in two American championships, before moving on to win both titles in 2009. In 2011 he won the international final of the ROK Cup after moving to Europe, and moved up the ranks in the world of karting, winning the Andrea Margutti Trophy in 2012 and the WSK Champions Cup in 2016 among other races.
The leap from karts to formula cars
In 2016 he took part in the Formula 4 UAE for the first season of the series, where he finished in second place. From there, his career skyrocketed. In 2017 he took part in the English F4 and in Formula Renault, where he remained in 2018, before making the big leap into Formula 3. The first season with Carlin was not the best, and he finished the championship in nineteenth position with only five points out of fourteen of the whole team. 2020 is the year in which Sargeant manages to assert himself more, obtaining two victories out of eighteen races and finishing the championship in third place.
In 2021 he remains in Formula 3 with Charouz Racing System, but only gets one victory before jumping in category, arriving in Formula 2 for the last round. He remains in the cadet series also in 2022, again with Carlin, and his season sees him win two races and almost always in the points, so much so that he finishes the championship in fourth position by one point behind Liam Lawson. With fourth place, Sargeant earned the necessary points for the superlicense and, as per promise of Jost Capito, Team Principal of Williams, will be at the starting line next year in place of Nicholas Latifi.
Good luck Logan!
