Like teammate Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc label his Friday in Canada as positive. After a virtually uncontested free practice session 1, all the drivers had to compress their qualifying and race pace simulation programs into the 90 minutes available in the afternoon.
Number 16 closed the FP2 al fifth place, two positions behind Sainz. The Monegasque said himself soddisfatto of the pace of his SF-23 on the Canadian track, though there is still work to complete before qualifying. Qualifying which, among other things, could be wet, as the last minutes of FP2 were.
Last year, on the island of Notre-Dame, Leclerc started from the back and finished in fifth place. After a disappointing Spanish Grand Prix, the Cavallino ace will be looking to get on the podium for the second time this year after Baku.

Leclerc's words
“It's only Friday and there's still a long way to go, but overall it's been a positive day. The feeling I had in the car was very good. We are a little further back in the ranking because we couldn't do a second simulation on the softs due to the red flag. Our race pace also went well and we will continue to work in the current direction."
