A day divided into two moments for Charles Leclerc: one good and one bad. The Monegasque, after the great comeback in Austin, finishes in second place in the standings FP1 behind teammate Sainz but ahead of Red Bull of the landlord Perez.
Day of ups and downs
Great result in the morning for the Monegasque who, however, didn't have a good time second session. Although Leclerc was testing Pirelli tires for 2023, he lost his rear in the snake, hitting the wall. A bad accident, in which the gearbox could not be excluded. Despite everything, it was the sporting director of the team who calmed the environment Maranello stable Laurent Mekies who reassured: “These things happen, ma he won't have any penalties this weekend".

Leclerc: "Not a fantastic Friday"
With a weekend, fortunately, not compromised, for Leclerc it is therefore time to concentrate on qualifying. In view of this goal, the Monegasque made his comment on Friday.
“It was certainly not the best of Fridays since we didn't complete a large number of laps.
Unfortunately, we had a puncture just after leaving the pits in the first session, so we had to go back to the garage to change tires and do some laps on the Softs. In the second session we did a qualifying simulation. When we then moved on to practice in race configuration, I spun and my session ended there. I don't expect any consequences for the rest of the weekend from the accident, and I'm confident that tomorrow we will have a better day, also because the sensations I had in the car are good.”
