And the second race of the season went too… and what a race. Max Verstappen wins in Jeddah, finishing ahead of the two Ferraris of Leclerc and Sainz. Ferrari is there and, on a substantially Red Bull track, they responded brilliantly with a duel between Leclerc and Verstappen that left everyone in suspense.
It was Verstappen who triumphed, but Leclerc gave his all, between luck and bad luck, as he declared at the end of the GP: “Certainly the Virtual Safety Car didn't help me, but that's part of racing. In general, we had a different approach to the weekend, aiming for a more charged car than Red Bull. It was really hard for me to keep Max behind when he had DRS. There was really a big difference in speed on the straight line. Today went like this: I did everything and, if I had to do the race again, I would change almost nothing. It was overall a good race from the team: we just have to look at the load, if we could have done something better."
The great battle
A fantastic race, with the duel between him and Verstappen that drove all the fans crazy: “There's a lot of respect between Max and me, especially after a race like this. The risks are high, we pushed like crazy and we also had fun. The respect is there and I'm sure it will remain. This year it is possible to follow a car very closely, almost like in MotoGP; they, however, follow each other even more closely. There is a big improvement from last year and that's good for the sport. Until now I hadn't done so many laps behind other cars. I could follow well behind Max, when he passed I thought it would be difficult to stay with him, but I managed. I'm happy. The car confirmed what we saw in Bahrain. They are very fast on the straight, but we will try to understand why and improve on that side".
