A very good first Sprint from Charles Leclerc who inaugurated the new format very well. The Monegasque finishes in second place, behind Max Verstappen, following a good fight between the two.
Leclerc tried to hold the first position, which he had snatched away at the start, but then had to surrender to Verstappen's speed and the various graining problems he had on the tyre: “I had a great start and was able to set up the race from there. I pushed right away to get me out of DRS – declared the Monegasque – but then I paid the price in the end. For tomorrow we will have to manage the graining, especially on the front right. I think the pace is similar between me and Max, except for the graining that came towards the end of the race. If we can fix it, we can aim for victory tomorrow.”
