A pole that is worth a lot. Not only because it means first row, but it gives a lot in various ways. In the first qualifying of the year, Ferrari responded well and set the pace with Charles Leclerc who finished ahead of Max Verstappen and his teammate Sainz.
Great emotion for the Monegasque who at the end of the qualification expressed his joy as follows: "Beautiful feeling. The last two years have been difficult for the team. We had some hopes for this new opportunity, because it was the opportunity for us to get back in front. We worked well as a team to find ourselves back in position to fight for the top. I'm happy for today. The session was complicated, I wasn't totally happy with my riding. But I managed to do the right lap in Q3. We start from pole, so I'm very happy."
Happiness to the stars, but it's forbidden to get over your head: "There is room for improvement – said Leclerc- The driving is also different from last year. The tests were very useful, we tried different riding styles. We have to find the perfect one, there is a lot of room for growth for us. We were sure that Red Bull would be quicker in qualifying too. But it's a positive surprise, it didn't happen that way. Now we have to end the weekend on a high note. Tomorrow with the tires it won't be easy, due to the heat and the increased weight of the cars. One must maintain caution. The pace is there but the race is long, anything can happen”.
