The young driver of the Red Bull Junior Team Juri vips, and the veteran Robert Kubica, will shoot in the first session of free tests of the Spanish Grand Prix. With them, Nick DeVries who will get into the Williams instead of Albon. The three teams, respectively Red Bull, Alfa Romeo and Williams, free themselves from one of the two seasonal obligations to deploy the testers in a practice session.
Juri Vips at his debut
Red Bull announced today that it will field the young Estonian in FP1. VIPs currently runs in Formula 2 in the team Hitech Grand Prix, and until now he hadn't never taken part in a race weekend, but only at the end-of-season tests dedicated to young drivers. It is not yet official which driver will replace Vips, but given the direction of the championship it is it is likely that he will get on Sergio Perez's RB18. The reserve driver from Milton Keynes, therefore, aims to do well to guarantee himself some hope for a future in the top flight.
Kubica's return
The Polish driver born in 1984 will climb theAlfa Romeo of which he is currently reserve pilot, after he had the opportunity to try the new single-seater white and red during the Pirelli tests conducted in Imola. Kubica will be alongside Valtteri Bottas, and with two drivers so experienced in tuning, the team from Hinwil aims to do steps forward in development, to seek an advantage in a mid-table battle which is and promises to be very close.
De Vries wants a seat
As reported in recent days, the Williams will field Nick De Vries in place of Alex Albon. The Dutchman aims to do well, especially in view of the 2023 championship, as if Latifs should it continue to disappoint, one might open door for thedebut in the championship. De Vries already has a lot of experience on four wheels: he became champion of Formula 2 e Formula E, and is 27 years old; an age that causes a sensation if you look at the rookie years of recent times, but the Dutch driver is fast, and he will certainly try not to disappoint expectations.
