Australia paints itself red…Ferrari. In Melbourne, Leclerc wins and dominates, at the end of a truly fantastic and well managed weekend. Second victory out of three for the Reds and for the Monegasque who continues to dream. However, Melbourne was also a wonderful race for mid-group battles, in which rider and strategies made the difference. So let's find out together the report cards of the Australian GP:
Leclerc
Flawless. An incredible and fantastic race from the Monegasque. His victory has never been in question. Vote 10.
Perez
The Mexican brings the Red Bull brand to the top following the great reliability problems manifested on Verstappen's RB18. His race was excellent, made up of many beautiful and important overtakings, such as the one on Hamilton. Grade 9.
Russell
One of the good points of the start of the Mercedes season. His performance in Melbourne was very good, allowing him to get on the podium for the first time with his new team. Solid race, taking advantage of luck (like the safety car), but also his talent for not making mistakes. Rating 8.5.
Hamilton
A very constant race by the seven-times world champion, as well as all the Mercedes in the race. Author of an excellent start, he missed the conquest of the podium, and therefore the attack on Russell, to avoid damage to the engine, at least according to his statements. Grade 8.
Norris
We can finally see glimmers of light for McLaren. The Woking stable is back in the position it deserves to be in, with Norris finishing again in the points after Jeddah, going up considerably. Grade 8.
Ricciardo
His race is also very constant. Not always the center of attention on the track, but the Australian couldn't go wrong at his home race, in front of his home crowd. Sixth place that boosts everyone's morale in Woking. Rating 7.5.
Or with
Very abnormal race. Little involved in the action but always clean in driving, and seventh place proves it. Rating 6.5.
Bottas
After failing to qualify for Q3 on Saturday, he managed to get back into the points, once again demonstrating Alfa's excellent potential in knowing how to fight with the cars in the middle of the group. Very shrewd in knowing how to take advantage of Gasly's mistake to conquer eighth place. Grade 7.
gasly
Season ticket now fixed for him in the top ten. When the car has no problems, as in Bahrain, Gasly proves to be increasingly capable of knowing how to do his best, collecting important points for him and for the team. Rating 6.5.
Albon
Fantastic strategy from the team, as well as his driving and first points of the season brought home. Rating 7.5.
