The relationship between the FIA e Classic Mercedes for sale, according to the last few weeks, it's certainly not the best. In addition to the Wolff case, with the chapter that does not yet seem to be definitively closed, a 'mystery' surrounding Lewis is causing a stir Hamilton which, during the FIA Prize Giving Gala of Baku, received the trophy for the third place achieved in the drivers' world championship. An award which, however, has been at the center of attention in recent days, with also several attacks aimed at the seven-time world champion.
Hamilton, the reconstruction of what happened at the presentation of the trophy at the FIA Gala
The trophy of the FIA awarded to Hamilton at the 2023 Gala has been delivered into the hands of Nihad Nesirli. The boy, present at the event, took the Mercedes driver's award once received his consent. The image made the rounds on social media and, initially, it was thought that the act performed by Hamilton was some sort of protest against the FIA, following the case dedicated to Toto and Susie Wolff. During the week, in fact, Hamilton made it clear several times on social media that he was (obviously) on the side of his team principal but above all on the side of Susie who over the years has demonstrated - as admitted by Hamilton - all her enormous professionalism.

The FIA attack, Mercedes' response
The first rumors, however, have not been confirmed. Mercedes itself explained what happened and, through an official press release, explained the reason behind the delivery of Hamilton's trophy to Nesirli: "Lewis Hamilton – we read from the note in the press release – agreed to give the FIA trophy won during the end-of-season Gala to one of his employees who would send him to the team. We can confirm that she did not give the trophy to anyone as a sort of 'gift'as had been speculated".
“Just a misunderstanding”
A statement that gives an idea of what, ultimately, was a clear one misunderstanding. In fact, it is Nesirli himself who definitively closes the issue, via his social profiles: "I am very disappointed to be portrayed as a thief. I want to point out that I didn't steal anything. I asked Lewis if I could take his prize and he said yes. I thought he was giving it to me. Reading the note from Mercedes, however, I understood that Hamilton he might have confused me for some FIA official to whom he believed he had temporarily entrusted the trophy".
