In home Mercedes it was difficult to close better than that on Friday free tests. George Russell tears into FP2 the best performance, finishing ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton.
Promising start
For Sir Lewis it was a day very positive. It is clear that this is only the beginning, but the wet seems to favor the characteristics of the W13. The seven-time world champion has yet to win a race this season and, after his big wasted opportunity at Singapore, he will try again at Suzuka. However, the weather conditions need to be monitored: in fact, tomorrow, qualifying day, no rain is forecast and the hierarchies seen today can easily be overturned.
Hamilton: "The track is beautiful"
Lewis Hamilton knows it very well that, at the end of the session, this is how he commented on his day.
"It was a very cold, gray and wet day – declared the seven times world champion – but we expect different conditions for the rest of the weekend. There's always something useful to learn about set-up, tire wear and temperatures, as well as being able to change the balance of the car between sessions. In addition, we also obtain data on our competitors. And in FP2 it was good to be able to change tyres. This track is beautiful and it's nice to see the fans again. In the dry it will be even more fun”.
