It was a totally forgettable Qatar GP for Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion greeted the race at the first corner, following the contact with teammate Russell. An unpleasant incident that forced Hamilton at retirement, while his teammate managed to restart and finish the GP in fourth place in the standings. Not an easy day for Sir Lewis, also concluded with an investigation opened by the FIA.
The Hamilton case in Qatar: the FIA is back
Let's go in order: following the contact with Russell, Hamilton was stuck with his W14. When returning to the pits, however, he chose to cross the track on foot, an absolute action prohibited by the regulation. For this reason, the Briton was immediately summoned by the FIA commissioners to explain what had happened. Once the investigation was concluded, the choice made by the Federation was very clear: fine of 50.000 euros. A choice, that of fining the seven-time world champion, was more than fair, as Hamilton's irregularity was evident and should be sanctioned, without however going beyond the classic fine.

“The Federation is reviewing the incident”
A week after the Qatar GP, however, it seems that the Hamilton case is not yet completely closed, at least according to the FIA. To admit a reopening of analysis on the situation, is a spokesperson for the Federation itself: “The FIA - He admitted - is reviewing the accident in which Lewis Hamilton crossed the track during the Qatar GP. La FIA takes note of Lewis' apology during the hearing of the sports commissioners for the accident, as the pilot himself recognized that the crossing represented a serious violation of the regulations and above all of safety. However, in view of her role model status, the FIA is concerned about the impression its actions may have created on younger drivers".
It's difficult to expect changes
At the moment there is no further news on the matter, but it comes anyway very difficult to think that there could be further penalties towards the Mercedes star.
